Atlantia Book Review

Hello everyone!

I know the end of the year is near…and I just HAD to post a book review.

I’ve been wanting to read Atlantia by Ally Condie ever since she announced she was coming out with a new novel. As a fan of her previous book series “Matched” I was very excited to get my hands on this book.

Lucky for you…I did a video about it on my youtube channel…so you don’t have to keep reading my words.

Anyway here’s the vid:

If you have any questions about the book feel free to ask me 🙂

Here are some questions I think might interest you about the book.

What age group is this book for?

  • I think this book is good for ages 11 (or 12) and up.
  • There’s no violence (just a bit)
  • No curse words
  • It’s not a romance novel either

What sets this book apart from every other YA Novel?

  • The main character’s relationship is to family
  • It shows the loyalty a person can have to family and their race
  • The character has a unique power
  • The story world (an underwater city…but its in a dome…cause the people that live underwater are human…so they need air)

Does this book have mermaids?

  • No…No…like I said in my review video…No.

Is this book good for vacation?

  • Yes! Especially if you’re going to the beach or anywhere near an ocean…I recommend this book to read on the beach 😉

Well guys thank you for reading…

I’ll probably post more blogs about my life with some pictures….cause I love photography.

Alright hope you guys have a great holiday 😀

The One by Kiera Cass Book Review

Wow I can’t believe the Selection series is coming to an end. The One (which is the third and final book) has already come out and I am beyond happy for the ending and where Kiera Cass has taken this series.

If you have no idea what the heck The Selection book is about then read my review on it:

THE SELECTION BOOK REVIEW

THE ELITE (BOOK 2) BOOK REVIEW

Without further delay here is my video review of The One:

The Selection series came out in 2012  and I have grown with these books and I will definetly miss these characters and the wonderful world Kiera Cass has built.

These books have been a comfort to me. I felt like I was transported into the book. With my fractured leg and having to go through the healing process reading The One has help me get my mind off of it.

Maybe in the future I’ll do an in-depth review of the Selection series and talk about the characters and the story world more without having to worry about spoilers.

I remember I found out about The Selection before it even came out. Barnes and Noble had a pre-sale and I loved the book cover. I checked out the author and thought she was cool so when the book came out I bought it and read it in one day. When the Elite came out I did a release party video, I was super happy about that book (but sadly I deleted the video) and then I did a book review.

Overall I recomend this book to anyone and everyone, especially girls I think they’ll enjoy it whether you’re a tomboy or a girly girl. America (main character) is so fiesty and hard headed that I think all of us wish to be like that at one point or another.

Thanks for reading!

These Broken Stars Book Review

Hello again.

I know wow! Two blog posts in one week!?

Yes, I am feeling quite generous.

Anyway I am here with a review for These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner.

Here is a quick video I filmed about it, you can scroll down for some more thoughts on the book:

Alright, in case you don’t know I REALLLLLLYYYYYYYY hate book covers with pictures of a person or people on it. Most of the time its a distressed looking girl or a girl and a boy and to be honest that is a MAJOR TURN OFF when I want to pick out a book. I still don’t know why book publishers insist on those lame pictures for covers but whatever.

But there are some exceptions to this. I personally LOVE the cover for Kiera Cass’ The Selction series. All the covers are beyond beautiful and to add to that list is These Broken Stars (like I say in my vid) the cover is perfect!

Moving right along, here is a list of things that I liked about this book:

  • Characters
  • The interesting plot twist with ‘The Whispers’
  • Finding out the truth about certain things
  • THE LAST QUOTE IN THE NOVEL IS FREAKING PERFECTTTT
  • Slow development to romance

Things I did not like about this novel:

  • It was slow pace. I wish it could have been a bit faster.

Overall I think if you like the Matched series by Ally Condie this would be a perfect read for you.

Or if you want a nice book to read while on vacation THIS IS IT! Folks!

I’ll probably make a list of the summer books I recommend and for sure These Broken Stars is one of them.

I think anyone ages 12+ can read this book.

Overall like I said in my video I rate this book a 7.5/10. I enjoyed it and I can’t wait for the next book! 😀

Happy Readings!

Panic by Lauren Oliver Book Review!

Hey guys (whoa…its been a long time)

Sorry I haven’t blogged in a while. Here’s why:

  • Playlist Live

Yeah, that’s pretty much why I haven’t blogged. I went to a YouTube convention/gathering held in Orlando, Fl. and you betcha its called PlaylistLive. This is my second year going, if you want to see my vlogs during the event its on my youtube channel. You can click here.

Now back to the real stuff.

I finished reading Panic by Lauren Oliver about two weeks ago but its not until now that I can sit down and actually review it (sorry school literally eats up time like crazy).

So on with the review!

What is Panic about?

  • Not a dystopian
  • Teens competing in a game to win a lot of money
  • The police are against the game (called Panic)
  • People place bets on who would be the winner
  • We follow four characters in this story, even though its only two characters third person POV.

Now you have an overall idea what the book is about. For the record I am not a fan of contemporary novels/novels that take place in present time. I prefer books that take place either in the future or in the past.

I thought this book takes place in the future but I found out it doesn’t. Anyway I held onto the book and decided to read through it cause I was curious what would happen in this game etc…

I was presently surprised and I enjoyed this novel. At first I felt the characters were a tad predictable but I kept reading and these are the emotions I felt for the characters:

  • Anger
  • Feel sorry for them
  • Happy for them
  • Can I scream at them?
  • Are they stupid?
  • They are amazing

Yeah throughout the novel my feelings towards them changed and when I thought I was gonna be bored BAM Lauren Oliver would put a plot twist or crazy event and I would want to keep reading.

If you want here’s a vid that I did talking about it:

Now on for the technical stuff:

  • This book is written in third person point of view
  • There are curse words
  • There are references to sex, drugs, smoking, and drinking
  • Hardback is 408 pages
  • I recommend this book for 14+
  • It is well written on my opinion
  • It is an easy read
  • Great plot although I wish it would have taken place in the future
  • Despite its about teens competing in a game by NO MEANS IS IT ANYTHING like Hunger Games. The story Hunger Games forced the characters unto the game versus here the characters get to choose (although whoever doesn’t compete are considered coward and are ridiculed)

Well that’s about it!

Currently I am reading The False Prince by Jennifer N. So far its amazing.

Happy Reading!

Landry Park Book Review

To start this post off let me just say my laptop is on 18% battery soooo I better hurry. *smiles nervously*

…I’m too lazy to get my charger. :/

ANYWAY Landry Park is Downton Abbey meets The Selection…literally imagine Downton Abbey set in a dystopian world….yea…that pretty much sums it up.

I talk about the main points of the story in this video below:

Now moving on to more detailed points. A few things that I really enjoyed Bethany Hagen did in this novel were:

  • Story world DEVELOPMENT
  • Character Development
  • STORY WORLD DEVELOPMENT
  • We understand how this corrupted world came to be
  • story world development
  • instead of the typical love triangle (yawns) this is more like a love square…plus one
  • I like how we aren’t lost when it came to the customs of the gentry (the rich people)

My thoughts while reading this book:

  • Ewen…there is more to that character….not sure if he’s evil or good…but we’ll see him again
  • David…somethings up with that character…he’s hiding something
  • Cara….obviously a liar
  • old man Jack….WHAT THE HECK!? (this reaction is more towards the end of the novel…once you read it…you’ll understand)

5/5 stars

This novel has elements of sci-fi…..the society was created due to a scientific discovery.

I have one thing to ask….CAN THIS BE MADE INTO A MOVIE…PLEASE!? I can totally imagine the posh life…since we can’t have the Selection on the screen…hopefully this novel can become one. 🙂

Sorry it has taken me soooooo long to do a proper book review. School + Slow reader = Long time to post review.

Well that’s all for today folks!

Happy Reading!
